BOOTMAKERS' DISPUTE SETTLED. Auckland, Sept. 3.

Wf. learn from Messrs Carrctt Bros. that the dispute between then Him and the Bootmakeis Operatives' Union is practically settled, it having been amused that, they will meet the Secietary of the Union thib evening and fix matters up amicably. At the same time Carre fct Bros, point out, in suppoit of the position they had taken up, that they have submitted the wnttcn agreements between themselves and the men who were "called out "and have ascertained that the&e are stamped and perfectly leaal it is '-atislactory, howevei, to find that both side ate disposed to effect an amicable settlement of their differences, and that the men on strike are likely to resume work as before on an arrangement which will have the consent^ of all parties inteiested. The secretary of the Operatives Union states that he has had a meeting with Mr <*ai iett,' and at present the only bone of contention between them is the written agreement. One of the Union's strictest rules prohibits any of its members from .signing such agreements, and the Society wishes Mr Oarrett to have his cancelled. The (Secretary considers that there is every hope of having the whole matter settled before the end of the week at the latest.
