Te Aroha S. and G. M. Co., Limit oJ :— Work up hill at Waiorongomai is principally con fined at present to opening up now workings and generally developing the mines. The whole of the tailings plant has been undergoing a thorough overhaul, which work is being carried out by Messrs Price, Bros., of Thames. The Co.'s ccninodions new offices will soon be ready for occupation. A start was made this week with building the foundation for the reverberatory furnace, which will form part of the very large and complete new plant which the Co. have decided upon erecting. The site for this furnace runs parallel with the old office, and within a few feet of it, A large number of hands are employed in leveling the site for the buildings to be erected for the new machinery ; the plans, etc. for which are being completed with all possible despatch. At 4 p.m. on Thursday the undermentioned tenders were opened. I Tenders for driving 100 feet on the Hero line of. reef in the Canadian low level (at per foot) :— M. W. D. Coglan, £1 6s ; Hi\ Hughes and party, £1 5s ; J, Walsh, £1 4s Gd ; C. Ramsay, £1 2s 6d ; J. Slevin, £1 Is 9d ; R. Tregoweth, 18s lid ; C. Guy and party (accepted), 18s. Tenders for driving a further distance of 100 feet on the line of reef in 450 feet level New Fin'i portion of the Co.'s property (at per foot) :-*-C. Gordon and party, £1 17s Gd ; M. W. D. O'Keefe, £1 15s ; Jas. Walsh, £1 14s ; Donovan and party, £1 13s ; J. Naughton, £1 12s 5d ; Jas. Sleven, £1 12s 3d ; J. O'Coghlan, £1 I2s Od ; J. Courtnay, £1 lls 6d ; Shea and party, £1 lls ; Marsey and party, £1 7s ; R. Tregoweth (accepted), Ll 4s 6d. During the week Mr J. B, Smith (who has taken up several claims at Karangahako, and is for a time residing there) accompanied by Mr J, McCombe, visited Waitoa for the purpose of arranging to have the assay riant that was there erected some time being removed and ro-erocted at Karangahake, There is nothing of special importance to chronicle from any of the claims at Tui, Mr Alex. Pprkcs left for Auckland via To Aroha,, on Friday morning last, returning to To Aroha by Tuesday's train, leaving for Karangahako on Wednesday morning.
