FRUIT SALES IN LONDON.
Mr C. B, Cairnes, of Parramatta, has received from Keeling and Hunt, the London fruit salesmen, account sales of the consignments of apples sent through him, per the Oceana, on behalf of Mrs King-Cox, of Mount Wilson ; Mr J, Pratt, Castle - hill ; and Mr R. Power, Toongabbie. There was also also a, large consignment of Tasmanian and New Zealand apples on the market at the same time. The fruit opened in anything but sound condition, a great portion of ib being frozen and thus rendered wholly valueless. In connection with this, Mr D. George, manager of the Bank of New South Wales, London, addressed a complaint to the manager of the 1\ and O. Company. Mr CJeorge urged the institution of inquiries with a view to finding out tho defect in the refrigerating process, and to adopt means for its prevention. A recurrence of such spoliation, he said, would " tend greatly to discourage the iruit export trade, in which so many influential colonists were interested and were anxious to see fostered and encouraged." Some bound boxes (Adams's pearmains) from Mrs Cox's realised 12s 6d per box, and Messrs Power's and Piatt's fiuib averaged 8s and 10s per box respeoth ely. New Zealand applet brought 13s per box. w hile Tasmanian apples reached 18s 6d per box, highest piices being obtained for scarlet pearmain and scarlet nonpareil varieties.
