The successful floating of the Champion Lode G. and S. M. Co.'s properly, Tui Creek, has been the chief topic of cou■versation amongst loral residents during the week. Nor is tins to be wondered nt, seeing the matter is one intimately associated with the progress and prosperity of the district. On several occasions previously' during the past couple of years it was reported that this property wfls ns good as floated ; that it would be nil satisfactorily fixed up within a few wepl<s, etc., but on each occasion these antidpntions failed to be realised ; and folks at In6t began to geLeoepticalji3,.to > whether their hopes in this ."direction would be renlised nt all or not ; and how many felt the 'truth of the old adage,
" Hope deferred maketh the heart sick." Respecting the genuineness of the property, and its great value no doubt was entertained that having been clearly demonstrated as far back as the time the La Monte furnace was at work at Thames (when the parcel of ore shipped thonci? for sale from this mine realised (he handsome price of over twenty pounds per ton) and ov»r and over again since then, both in quantity and by small test parcels, However, better late than never, and the shareholders have at length, after many disappointments, been able to announce that the property has been successfully floated, with a working capital of £15,000 for expenditure in developing and working the mine, erecting the most improved plant, etc., £12,000 of the amount having been already subscribed. The floating of this most valuable property means a big thin*? for Te Aroha, and is n guarantee that money and science will now be brought to bear in developing the mineral wealth that abounds in the Tui district. The value of othsr mining properties in the same neighbourhood will be greatly enhanced also. The sale of the Crown mine, and Railey's Reduction Works at Karangahake is more good news. The Te Aroha S. and G. M. Co, are also obtaining some splendid gold bearing stone just now, and the prospects of the Co. are really good. Altogether ihe outlook for Ull3 portion of the goldfield is of a most encouraging character The long expected boom in mining matters now appears to be within measurable distance ; and we believe our most sanguine predictions for Te Aroha as the prosperous centre of vast mining operations will be fulfilled at no distant date. So may it be.
