THE NATIVE WARFARE. EXPECTED SETTLEMENT.
Wellington, July 30. Tiie Native Minister received a telegram to-day that the Northern Native chiefs had all arrived at Whangarei, and Mr Clendon expects to wire their views on the disturbance to morrow. A settlement is still expected without the necessity for the Native Minister going North.
Nurse (to father of triplets)— "Ah, sorr, they be perfect little gems !" Father (dubiously) — "Yes, buterive me solitaires in preference to clusters ev,ery time."
