NEW ZEALAND'S FUTURE.
Thou art beautiful, New Zealand, With thine azure ski 63 and seas, The emerald of thy forests, Whose ferns are waving trees. There's a poetry about thee With Nature's glamour fraught, Though thou beare t not the record Of ancient battles fought— No shattered forts and castles, Nor crumbling city walls, No iy v-hidden manors, Nor history haunted halls. Ye free-born sons of Britain, Your land lies rich and fair : Take'up the pen of action And' write your record there. Your sires hare given you freedom, They bought it with their blood ; Linked with responsibility 'Tis yours foi ill or good< 'Tis you will make the history Of millions yet to come ; lien* will design the pattern To issue from Time's loom The future is before you; But the present will decide If unborn generations Shall praise you or deride ! North Shore. A.15.
