IMPORTANT DISCOVERY. ANIMAL LIFE IN AUSTRALIA.
Sydney, July 26. A discovery of fossil bones, which is of great value to science, has just been made at Myall Creek. There are about four tons of remains of extinct animals of gigantic size, belonging to the pleistocene period, which is the geological epoch just preceding the appearance of man upon the earth. Thos. Hardy has been arrested at Ivanhoe on the charge of murdering an infant by smothering it. Hoj?abt, July 26. The Tasmaniau Parliament has adjourned for three weeks to allow members to visit the Melbourne Exhibition and take part in the opening ceremonies. Adelaide, July 26. , The man Hemerling,who was injured by the boiler explosion on board the steamer Greenock, has died from his injuries. Another man named Treages. who was also seriously injured by the ! explosion, is repoited to be in a ciitical condition.
