Mv Howell, the mining export from America, is still busily employed in carry ins: on the series of experiments upon which he has been engaged since his arrival, and he does not expect to got finish pel for a couple of weeks yet. So far as the experiments have proceeded Vfe understand the results obtained arc decidedly satisfactory, and there is every reason to belicye that as a result of Mr Howells visit, the Company will be able to erect such additions to their existing 1 plant as will enable them to profitably treat very much lower grade ore than heretofore. That it is considered concentration can be largely introduced with advantage, is demonstrated by the fact that in addition to the two (Hendy's " Triumph*) concentrators erected since the arrival of Mr Howell, and which he has had almost continuously at work ever since, fifteen more concentrators ("Frues") have been ordered by cable from America this week, and on arrival thesewill be erected in the present stamper mill. Mr Howell is now engaged in checking over the results already arrived at, as well as carrying on additional experiments. Directly he has completed the very important work he has in hand, the additional plant will bo erected with the least possible delay. Roasting will be largely adopted, and an order for a second revolving furnace has already been placed wilh Messrs Price Bros., of the Thames ; which will be erected adjacent to the present stamper battery. It will idso be seen by reference to our advertising columns that tenders are invited for the ejection of new offices For the Company. These will be of a, very complete character in view of operations being carried out m a large scale, and will include nn assay department, manager's room, engineer's room, etc. From Messrs Price Bros., two large stone breakers have also been ordered, Altogether matter. 1 ? look promising on this portion of the gold field, and there is no donl't those who now have the matter in liaml are determined to spare rneithe trouble or capital in solving tho bast
