As an example ot what a good runner can do, bays the .Sydney 'Sporting Life,' Charles Samuels' performance on Monday stands oui as a record. Starting as scratch, man in the £21 handicap, at thirteen and a halt yards, and conceding as much as fifteen yards start, he fairly romped home, winning his two heats and a final like a tradesman. He also saddled up in a 100 yards handicap, on Ihe two yards mark, giving as much as thirteen yards heart, and repeated his performance, thus landing 1 the double : a great feab, truly, as he ran no less than six heats during tho afternoon. Libeau oilers to walk any man in Australia any distance, from one to twenty-rive mile&, for any part of C5OO a-sidc. C.
