END OF THE DEPRESSION. Dunedin, July 6.

At the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commeice, Mr G. L. Dennison. the president, in his addiess, referring to the depression, said that the clouds were lifting somewhat, and a more healthful feeling was abroad. The process of realising was going on, and however painful it might be, it was the first step towards the adjustment of the values of ieal property. Mr John Roberts was elected president, and Mr John Ross vice-president. By request, the OlHcial Assignee gave some particulars regarding bankruptcy. He referred to the ease with which people got credit, and urged that merchants should provido for a statutory declaration when a man was seeking credit for the first time, so that in the event of bankruptcy he could be confronted with it. He also suggested the formation of a Mutual Creditors' Association.
