THE STATE OF THE MINING SHARE MARKET.
The " Sydney Telegraph " of June 25fch says : — The tendency of the most favoured silver stocks is still upwards. Although the rise during the past week has not, been so great as that of the week before, there haa been a marked advance nearly all round. The exceptions are Mount Costigan and Webbs, which are slightly weaker, and Rising' Sun and Eveleen. which have had little change. Since yesterday week Proprie*, [ tary have advanced £22 ; South, ■ lSsi
I 6d ; British, 14s ; Lewis Pond?, 6s ; I Block 14, 5s ; North, 4s 6d ; Central, Junction and Tom's, about Is each. It may be interesting to note that the lowest point in the depression was reached on Saturday, the ,9th met., when Pro- ! prietary were sold at £170, British at 40h, and * South at 555. Since that date Proprietary have advanced £67 per 16,000 th share, British, 34s per 240,000 th, South 48s per 100,000 th and Block 14 38s per 100,000 th. The increase in the capital value of these four mines alone, as assessed by these fluctuating and variable values, amounts to £3,882,000 in about 15 days ! Be^idevS this there has been an advance since the date named of 11s 6d each in Central and New* "North, and of 11s in Junction. Outside mines continue much neglected, and quotations are very low. Taking price into consideration, two or tlnee of them may yet turn out far better for their proprietors than those which stand at much higher li'jjures, but whot>e ultimate success is still problematical.
