FURTHER GREAT RETRENCHMENT PROPOSALS.
The Premier lias promised a deputation from tho Retrench men b Commit toe that if tho House affirmed a motion that the salnries of the public officials throughout the colony should be reduced to market value ho would carry it into effect, but he would have to submit the matter to the Cabinet before giving a definite answer. It is believed that if this promise is given effect to, the result would be the saving of a further sum of £100,000.
