ANTE BELLUM.
" Ultima Ratio Regum." Home with Valour's ardent flamo View the near approaching strife. Who would buy the bauble fame With a nation's blood and life ? Oh, ye rulers of the land. For some idle dream of state ; Will you see Destruction's hand Hearts and homes mako desolate? Ay! for bigot's lustful greed, Or ambition— vainer still--Must unnumbered thousands bleed, Or at best their fellows kill? Must War's horrors wake the world, And above each crimson plain Havoc, with her wings unfurled, Hover o or the gory slain? True, upon each battle day. Ere the foemen close in fight, In their fair yet dread array There will Tbe a noble Bight.
