Faith in Jesus.

Faith is a very simple thing, Though little understood : It free'? the soul from Death'" dread sting, By rlstin'c in the blood. <1 Cor. 11. II ; Ev. \ii. 13, 23.) It looks not on the things around, Nor on the things Yv itiiik ; It takes its flight to scenes above, Beyond the sphere of sin. (Jer. x\ii. 9; IFeb. i. 3.) It sees upon the Throne of (Jon A Victim that was slain ; It rests its all on His shed blood, And s-ays, 'I'm born again.' (Heb. x. 12, 11 ; 2 Cor. v. 15, 17.) Faith is not what; we i ki,l or see, It is a simple trust In what the 6 on of Love has said Of Jesus, as ' the Jusfc !' (1 John i. !) ; 1 Pet. iii. 18.) The Perfect One that died for me, Upon His Father's throne, Presents our names before our (ion, And pleads Hi w<<elf alone. (Rev. iii. 21; Heb. iv. 11. 15.) What Jesus is, and that alone, Is faith's delightful plea ; It never deals with sinful self Nor righteous self, ix mk, (Kph. i. 6, 7 ; Rom. vii. 18.) It tells me I am counted ' dkad ' By God, in His own Word ; It tells me I am ' born again ' In Christ, my riskn Lord. (Rom vi. 6. 7; Rom. vi. I, o.) In that He died, He died to sin : In that He lives — to God ; Then lam dead to Nature's hopes, And justified through blood. (Rom. vi. 10 ; Rom, iii. 24. 25.) If He is free, then I am free From all unrighteousness ; If He is just, then I am just, He is my Righteousness. (Phil. iii. 20, 21; TCph. i. 17-23.) What want I more to perfect bli&s ? A body like His own Will perfect me for greater joys, Than angels round the throne. (1 John iii. 5-7 ; 1 Cor. i. 30, 31 ; 2 Cor. v. 21.)
