The crosscut from this level to cut JS T o. 1 footwall leader i& in 10 feet in very ' food country. This work is being carried on by the contractors for the low level, who cannot continue below in consequence of the Big Pumpstoppagefor boiler inspection. Both s.topcs on the footwall leader have been advanced 9 feec, and are 7 inches thick and show good colours of gold. On hanging wall reef, Mo. 4 level, the lending and second btopes are up to Treuton boundary. The 3rd -tope is 1 15 feet ; 4th &tope, 95 feet ; sth stope, 86 feet ; and 6th stope 39 feet in from the junction. The reef on each portion of these stopes is 15 inches thick, and shows colouis of gold. On the footwall reef the 7th stope is within 17 feet of the boundary. The teef here i& from 12 to 15 inches thick, and bhows a little gold. The Bth stope in 131 teet, and the 9th stope 99 feet in from rise. 15 inches of quart/, is showing in each of these fetopes, and every breaking down colours of gold are seen. All the quartz now being broken is shaping tor a payable return, and as there is a large amount in sight I would again urge the necessity of a battery. Plate amalgam was, cleaned yesterday for 208ozs lOdwtn making in all 13470zs lOdwts on hand to date. The picked stone on hand will be crushed to-day, and retorting takes place to-morrow. Gam Bin a. — The fortnightly cleaning up to-day gave 1260z5. gold from 157 loads of quartz.
