MOKAU JONES'S CASE.
A long letter from Mr J. -lone- to the \ati\e Minister, telathe to the Mokau land >; ioe, was laid on the table ot the Hou-e 3'j&terda\. In enlaiging upon the ditlicultiea to which he ha= been subjected, Mi <)one» asserts that Me>M.- Mourn and liu^-ell, of Auckland, with the aid ot thu Native Land Couit Judges ha\e Nery lecently acquired titles to lands at Mokau in a most illegal and unrighteous manner, othei persons being better entitled to the land. He further allege*- that he haclauses in Bills de-igned to ghe validity to these transaction-, and the agents ot uerto whom he allude- aie cie iting of his dilticultie- in the hope oi acquiring his land by a similar proce>->. He clc l cu^e^ the Native Minister of having told him that any communication from him would ha\e no effect on the Government, and uige^ that an inquiry by a Parliamentary Committee would be more satisfactory for all paitiethan one by a Royal Commission, and says that his interests may fall into othei handunless the matter is immediately dealt with by Parliament. In conclu-ion, he protcst-s against the Crown appointing its own servants to adjudge between it-elf and a complaining .-übject. The Xati\ c Minister (Mr Mitchelson) .stated that -ome of the allegations made in this letter were untrue.
