Colonel Fraser, M.H.R., ir tends asking the Minister of Marine what were the reasons which induced Government to circumscribe fche boundaries of the Port of Thames, and whether Minister is aware that such action will cripple the resources of the Ilarbonr Board and prevent it meeting its liabilities. Also, have Government any objection to allow a Committee of the House to inquire into frho matter. The appointment of Lieutenant- Colonel of Militia and Inspector of Volunteers has been conferred on Captain Hume, Inspector of Prisons, and will be gazetted next weelc. The office is purely honorary, and when Capt. Hume pays visits to prisons in various parts of the colony he will take advantage of the occasion to thoroughly inspect volunteer corps and pot them through their facings. The next Auckland English match is fixotl for September Bth. A man named Peter Har.ty, recently discharged from gaol, mistook a respoctable young lady for a prostitute and assaulted her and has been sentenced to six months imprisonment. i
