The local oflicialb wcie subjected to most barbaious treatment, fiom the eflect-- of which sovoial have since died. Asimilar fatoovertook tl',c farmers, who had no time to effect their escape. To add to the gravity of the situation, the tcintoiial troops sent against the lioteis proved quite untiustwoithy, and the soldiers, fraternising i\ ifch the pea-ants, Hrcd upon the men of the lino regiments when the services o\ the latter were subsequently In ought into requisition. When the authorities tound, on the 15th April, that it was impossible to combat the movement by peaceful mums, telegraphic orders wereghen ati late hour by the Minister of Justice that the troops should make use of their arms, and these instructions weie cairied out at several places. When the mad left Bucharest no information \va« yet to hand as to the number killed and wounded, which was stated to be consideiable. The journal " Telcgraphul," the organ of the National Liberal party, declares that the Government should demand the immediate recall of M. Hitrovo, if it desires that the revo't should end at all. The journal openly accuses the Russian Minister of having instigated the rising.
I may tell you that this "Lightening Ball " has occurred on three farms in our district, white wheat on several other farms situalerl in the same neighbourhood has been quite free from this defect, I also believe that the wheat so affected is all traceable to the same seed. — Thomas Ombury, Park Farm Tasmania, April 25th
