The Wellington Chamber of Commerce hub parsed the following ie.soluti.on : " That it ife'not advisable to dltcufcs the details oi the tai ifl until the House has detei mined whether it i^ possible to do without extra taxation. While not admitting the necessity ot additional taxation, the Chamber is of opinion that the taiifl should not be amended in the direction proposed, as it raided f>o many complicated issues. The Chamber believes that a saving can be efleoted in the cost of education and better management of railways, which will render further taxation unnecessary . That proposed one per cent, pi image duty is a most vexatious impost, and will give needless trouble, out of all proportion to the money to be raised.'
