SCHOOL COMMITTEE,

The usual monthly mooting of the To Aroha Gold field School Committee was held last Monday evening. The correspondence included notice from the I Education Board of the removal from I the school of Miss Bnskettfrom May 31, I so as to bring the teaching staff within i the regulation scale. A report from the i Minister of Education with regard to cost of school building was received, besides the circulars from the Auckland University College Council. The Visiting Committee reported * havincr made inquiries with regard to children's quarterly payments, and they found that children not in the standards wore expected to pay 3d per quarter, and children in the standards (5d per quarter. For this this they were supplied with ink, chalk, indiarubber, blotting paper, foolscap paper for examinations, pens, pencils (slnte and lead), labels for exercise books, ncid for removing stains from desks. Also out of this fund the teachers' books and stationery necessary for the working of the school aro supplied. It was stated that on an overage fully 30 per cent of the children fail to bring their quaiterly money, and that the amount actually received does not cover tho cost of goods supplied. Accounts were passed payment, and the secretary authorised to make amumcments for a contract for all the work required in connection with cleaning, &c.
