AGNES.
Agnes ! with the soft blue eyes, Fairer far than evening skies In their richest Southern guise. In the smiles that haunt thy face, I mar not inaptly trace Sunshine in its vernal grace. In thy lips, like budding roses. Beauty's virgin charm reposes; Sweetness, love alono discloses! In thy fairy, youthful mien All the graces may be seen — Sportive, artless, chaste, serene. Ah ! thy beauty comes to me, Bringing buck the memory Of a bliss that could not bo! Still thy presence can impart, Solace to my shattered heart, For a smile of God thou art! Ilclensville. A. W. Hurky.
