SOIREE AT MORRINSVILLE.

On the Queen's Birthday a very enjoyable and successful soiree was held at Morrinsville, in connection with the Wesleyan Church. Tea was laid in the District Schoolroom at 6.30 p.m. The spread was not only bountiful, but its quality also reflected the greatest credit on the ladies who provided it, and it is needless to add that it was fully appreciated by those who partook of it. At the after meeting the chair was occupied by Mr Henry Duttle, who expressed his pleasure at seeing such a goodly number present, in spite of the uncertain character of the weather. The programme was Viuied and lenpthy. Addresses were delivoied by Rev. T. G, Cuit, of Hamilton, and Ivov. 8. Lawry, CiiTiiil Minister. Mr W. J. Elliott, of Pneron, and Mr La'iiont of Morrinsville, gave recitations, Mr Elliot being vociferously encored for lih lcndeiing of the ''Woman ol Mind." In the musical depaitiucut

solos were sung by Miss Chambers and Miss Young, of Cambridge, and Rev B. Lawry. Mrs Lawry and Miss Hartley sang two riupts, one of them, " Charity," being esj)ecially good. Duets were sung also by Mrs Snell and M:ss Ilorrell, and by Miss Young and Miss Chambers. Mrs Sncll, Miss Iloirell, and Messrs Warren and Lamont rendered a quartette. In addition to these items several choruses were rendered by the choir who weie considerably re-inforced by fiiends from Te Aroha. On the motion of Mr Elliott a hearty vote of thanks was accorded lo the ladies and the choir, after which the meeting was brought to a close by singing the National Anthem.
