To Aroha S^ and G. M. Co.— Good progress is being made in conned ion with the extension oF the water race ; on which work about a dozen men are at present engaged. The Battery is running on quartz obtained from Maisey's afopes, and from both winzes (New Find portion Co's property), which is shaping for a payable return. Gold is seen every breaking down in both winzes now being sunk in the New Find ; slow I progre99 is however being made with this work, owing to the quantity of water which has to be contended with. In Maisey's slopes the stone coming to grass shows gold, and is without doubt of payable quality. The contractors in the 450 feet crosscut are making good progress with the work, and the country continues to be of a very kindly nature. Wiseman and party, contractors for putting in the 000 foot main adit level m the New Find have now made a fair *tait with this work. The contractors for driving on the Galena reef are making fair progress with the work in hand, and the stone coming to hand is of a very highly mineralised character. The contractors for the drive on the May Queen reef are also making good progress. The contractors driving *«nd sinking in the Silver King are pushing the work ahead. All the other works in connection with the Company's property are progressing favourably. Colonist : Fair progress is being made with the drive now being put m on the Hero reef, and gold is showing freely in the ore being broken out, and it is beyond doubt of a payable quality, Tenders are now being called for a new level on this reef, which, when carried out will give another 70 feet of backs.
