Xe«= ha* been received of a terrible minder on Saturday at Bunya reserve, about 14 miles from Brisbane. It appears that a little girl named Bridget Baker, 9 jeaii of age, daughter of a selector, was taking her father's dinner to the place \\ here he was working about a mile and a half from the house. She was accompanied by her little brother, aged 4. She delivered the dinner to her father, and then .started to return home with her bi other, the road being- a simple bridle trade through scrub. The little boy states that uhen about halfway along the road a black fellow suddenly jumped out of the r<crub, sei/.cd the girl, and carried her into the scrub. The boy ran home and informed his mother, who at once ran to the spot, calling to her aid in the meantime a neighbouring selector. On arming at the place they found stains of blood and a \\ell-detined track of blood marks leading into the scrub. This was followed for about a quarter of a mile, when the body of the child was found brutally murdeicd, the girl having evidently been first outraged. Her head had been cut and biuised in many places, and her clothing was saturated with blood. As soon as the news was brought into town, the mounted police and black trackers were despatched to the scene of the outrage. The unfortunate girl was outraged by a black fellow near the same locality about 12 months ago, and the perpetrator was never discovered. It is now believed that the deed was committed by a white man blackened.
