Inlo the glorious, fresh, cold night. Leaving behind us the glare ot Uie town, .Speeding on thiough the brilliant light Of the stars and the silver, full-orbed moon. sliding, gliding, over the ground, With snow beneath and snow around ; Nothing but snow to lot t or rightOne da/.zling sheet of spotless white. And our bounding blood will tingle To the nif'iTj tingle, jingle, To t he tramping, flying leet Of our horses, btiongand fleet. Ileie and there a freighted tree, Bending its boughs across the road, Seems to stagger under their weiglit Like a giant beneath a beavj load. .Sparkling, riui'Mmg, in light or shade, Resplendent, in glor.\ thai .soon must lade. M retelung against tne elcar, deep sk,\ Its mass ot gemmed embroidery. \nd our merry talk will mingle Wn h the l ingle, .lingle, jingle; VV Hh the u'unehing rt the snow And the driver's wild " Vah-ho." Onuaid still, past house and farm, Whore the blazing pine knots' ruddy glow, Through eurtamless \umlows streams out warm, Uxeing us crimson as we go. St learning, gle>uninu,, warm .md red. .Making us thinlc ol home and bed. Jiut home lies many miles away. And lor all that we ( are, so iL may.
