The rinking mania lias developed very stiongly in Wellington, and the skaters are aflord'cd lcmarkablc facilities for indulging in this f-.uouiite pasUnic. The (Columbia syndicate have erected an immense rink with a floor space three- times as ureat as the Choral Hall. The floor is a beautiful one, and was specially laid for rinking. The rink is open day and night, and 1 may safely nay that thousands ot people patronise it every day, indeed, J hear that since its erection the proprietors of this 1 ink have made several thousands of pounds clear pro/it out of the venture. Tennyson, who carried out the decorations of the Columbia in Auckland, is the manager, and ho is a capital ono ; indeed, good management is the bccroh of success of the Columbia rinks. Tho Pope has a private income of £30,00 per annum.
