It is rather a long day, forty miles' drivingand about six on loot or on horseback, but ha\ing" Mr Blyth with us to point out the best bights, and steered by Mr Robertson, who, throughout our stay, drove us in the most efheient manner everywhere, being indefatigable, and -with whom the view of Tarawera is a speciality, we enjoyed the excursion immensely. Mr Taylor went with us to Wairoa and Lake Tarawera, and we also visited JNJokoia, Whakarewarewa, Tikitere and the Sanatorium. Quite unexpectedly, the Kotoruans asked for a lecture, and tilled the schoolroom to hear "Up the Rhine." Yesterday we came here through the Oxford Bush, having a lovely day for the trip, and look down on tho placid waters of the (such a contrast to the boiling we had in Rotorua) from the verandah of Mrs Gwyrine's preifcy little cottage witli great satisfaction. The Major lectured hero last night, and at Cambridge to-night, and we arrive in Auckland by the Jive train to-morrow. Major Dane bids farewell to Auckland and Now Zealand on May Ist.
