I Information reached him, however, a few ■ days later of an occvurence in «m unoccupied house at the cot net of Symonds and Wei lesley-stieets which appealed to h,i\c M>me beating on the ca-e in hand Mr Ciaig accompanied .some ladies to the hou->e 11 night or two utter the robbety at MoOts for the puipose ot shotting them o^ci it, and was then astonished to lind a buily individual under the stans. The party were naturally somewhat alatmed, and the surprised lodger appeared to be equally .so. He took his departure without any unnecessary delay, and explanations were not sought for on either .side. The culpiit in both these occunences was described as a foreign looking-in-dividual of stout appearance, and he was believed to be a Frenchman. The burglary at Lovett's premises in Wellesley-streefc West happened at the same time, but in that instance there was nothing by which Ihe perpetrator could be Uaced. Entiance was obtained by opening a fanlight o\er the dooi , and taking out one of the gla-^ panels Some aiticlos of clothing and a tew "hillings in mone\ uerc .-tolcn, but the thefts \\c\e not ot a very seiiou^ chaiacter.
