The .scenery, after the forty-seven folds ate passed, becomes very fine, and under tiie able steering of Myers down the .steep grades, the drhe was most enjoyable. The view from the top of Turangakunui itsupremely line, embracing an ocean of Hummith — some wooded, others eo\crcd with fern. It i& worth everything to bee this alone, and yet the second day's .^tage if- interesting also, Lake Taupo forming a superb picture with the smoking mountains against the sky. The " Spa," at Taupo, is a pleasant place to stop at, Mr Jonhua looking well after his guests, showing them the sight,'-, regaling them in the hot swimming bath, and quartering them in little cottages dotted about the grounds. Wairakei is a wonderful place, the champagne pool and the "Blue Lake being its greatest marvels." Yesterday we left for Rotorua, and arrived after a rather interesting trip undor Mr McCauley's guidance in the evening, llorohoro's battlemented crest and the t-cene at Ateamuri were the most noteworthy features along the route till wo came within bight of Whakarewarewa and the other wonders belonging to this 1 hot-water region.
