ELECTRICITY FOR HEAD ACHE.
" Do you know," inquired a female nurse at Bellevue Hospital of a reportei, "that electricity i» a most effective cure for a violent headache? T have an apparatus afc home which ] purchased in Englmd two yeai-^ ago. It X charged with electricity, and it cures headache as if by matric. The apparatus is about fifteen inches in length and is composed entirely of flat or box wire link*-, made square. It is an inch and a-haii wide and one-fourth of an inch thick. At each end of the apparatus is a circular cap or plate. One of the caps i- made tif carbon, the other is made ot /inc. Two sepaiate layers of thin wiie run through the links' breadthwise. These layers are dnided in the centre by -eating \\n\, the idea being- to form the electric ciicuit. Should the two v.iie-* touch one another, the electric cunent would hr shut off and the apparatus would be iiffl^s. On each cap is an ejclel or .-mali imp made to allow a string to pa*^ through and bo fastened to the head. The apparatus imi<t be placed in ■vinegar foi two minute-, before being applied lo the head. In operating 1 the zinc can i?- placed on the light temple and the carbon iap on the left. The electric current, uur'Ciated bj the aid of thc\inejjar, then s^[- to woik, and the \ictim of the headache is. gcneialh icUevcd within one or two minutes. The only objection I la\e to iwnu 1 the apparatus is that the zinc cap is sometimes so strong as to burn thcfle^li on the temple. I hive had my ritrht tem})leied for weeks after u^ing it. Now in 'ipplyino," it I ahvays place a piece of cloth between the zinc cap and the pkin, and I find it effecthe in preventing blistering." — "New York Mail."
