DOWN TO DEATH.
A Fearful Accident. A disastrous railway accident has occurred on the Canadian -Pacific road, four miles west of White River. The telegraph agent at one of the stations on the line failed to cancel a freight train, as lie had been osdered to do, and it collided with another frcijrht train on a trestle ninety feet high, called the Red Succor trestle. Both trains fell from the track into the abyss below, and two engineers, two firemen and two brakesmen were killed. One man wedged under the wreckage was noticed to be alive, and one of his comrades undeitook to remove him by grasping his hand. His rescuer was liorrified when ho broke the man's fingers, which had .been frozen while in this condition. Another man was seen under the wreck, all of his body being visible except his head, which was horribly mangled. Nobody seemed to know the cause of the accident. It was thought that ,the, men had been too long on the train going Ea s st and had fallen asleep.
