Waipawa, March 24. At a meeting held on Tuesday night, it was decided to form a central committee, comprising the Chairmen and Mayors of the various County Councils and boroughs in Hawke's Bay, to relieve the sufferers by the Norsewood fire. It was resolved to appeal to the people of the colony for subscriptions, .-md satisfaction was oxpi eased nfc the steps already taken in Wellington, Christchurch, and Auckland, and it was earnestly hoped all the other centres would assist. A large sum will be required to alleviate the districts and pub the people back in homes of the humblcbt description. The Committee also hope that all the papers in the colony will give the fullest publicity to ali telegrams on the tfubjcot, and that by this means the colony will be stirred to sympathy. Delay will mean an increase of misery, as owing' to the altitude of- the settlement winter comes on early and is, always rigorous. Subscribers may rely on the judicious administration of the funds by responsible and rftprcjjcntfttive men.
