Recovering a Fortune

A -.trance story comes from America, which will give pleasure to the friend" and admirers ot the late Dr. Konoaly, of Tichborne notoriety. It appears that no less than three of Dr. Kenealy's sons are engaged in journalism in America. One of these, who is o» the staff of the New York "He/ald," recently began an action to recover u fortune of some half million dollars which has been accumulating in the American Treasury for twenty years. The story goes that in 1819 the colonel of a British regiment took with him to Canada his two motherless boys ; and, on his regiment being oidcred back to England, ho left them in the charge of a French Roman Catholic priest at Amhorstburg, in Ontario. Some two or three years atterwards the boys ran away from school ; and all trace of them was lost. William, one of the boys— so the story goes — went to Brooklyn, where, as he spoke English with a French accent, he wria supposed to be a Frenchman. H© died without issue, leaving un estate valued at 300,000d01. The will, owing to csrtain technical informalities, was set aside ; and the money, in default of heirs, became vested in the American Treasury, where it remained at compound interest unclaimed until young Kenealy, finding that the name of the wealthy Brooklynice was the same as his own, made inquiries, with the result of proving to his own satisfaction that he and his brothers were entitled to the unclaimed fortune. The case is now before the American courts.
