Extraordinary Religious mania. EXCITEMENT IN ADELAIDE RELIGIOUS CIRCLES.
Great excitement is being caused in Adelaide, in religious circles, by the outbreak of an extraordinary creature, who insists in perambulating the thoroughfares in a sky-blue coat, white waistcoat, and gloves and knee-breeches, asserting that he 13 Je3us Christ, who has come back to again for the salvation of a sinful world. He wears large bunches of flowers all over his clothes, as well as on his hat, which is of the bush type, and covered with n green gauze veil. He appears quite harmless, but is provocative of much unintentional blasphemy on the part of the t,mall street boys, who follow his rapid march and addict him in jocular terms by hia self-assumed title. He has already got h considerable number of followers in the suburbs and west end, and an amalgamation is contemplated between them and the rising sect of the Seventh Day Christians. It is also considered very probable that the " hard-bake Christians," a popular sect, so called from certain pronounced views which they hold in reference to a future life, will also join the Church of Christus Redivivus, as he is generally termed. It is not very long since this interesting individual entered the City Police Court one morning, and urged his claims ■to the Mensialnhip in eloquent accents, but the magistrate refused to be converted, and he was removed. On March the 15th lie caused some excitement by appearing on 'Change and preaching vigorously against -share-dealing, or to use his own words, " Pitting Scripture against Scrip." The brokers promised to call the next new mine after him and he went away, apparently pleased. Fortunately, his appearance ■does not create the excitement it would in any less religious city.
