NEW COAL VENTURE. AN AUCKLAND STEAMER TO BE PURCHASED.
Wellington, March '21. I leaks from a reliable souiee that negotiations are proceeding for the purchase of a -smart Auckland steamer for the MohiJunui Coal Company. The vessel which the Company are anxious to purchase is a light draught steamer, about 300 tons. No coal has yet been broken out of the mine, which is situated a few miles from Mohikiiuii Harbour, about midway between Greymouth, but as a steam tramway is now laid down from deep water to the property, a start ■will be made in a few weeks to break out the black diamonds. I am also informed that several of the applicants for the position of manager are residents in Auckland
