A suicide under extraordinary eircumRfcancos lias been reported to Sergeant Rcutledge, of the Footacray police A man named John fcaider, who acts as watchman at Blyth, Irvine and Binney's bono mills on the east bank of tho Saltwater river, states that about 11 o'clock on the night of Saturday, 4th February, he heard tho bhrieks of a woman, and a .splash as of someone having fallen into the water. Ho searched for some time, bub failed to discover the ctiuso of the noise. In the morning the search was resumed on the opposite bank of the river, and a white woollen crotchet cloud, a white straw hat trimmed with white laco, flowers and blue ribbon bows in front were found. Aboub 6 o'clock last evening the body of a young woman was recovered. It was taken to the Footscray morgue, and identified as that of Georcina Sone, a domestic servant, aged 22 r who has for tho past 12 weeks been in the employ of Miss Solomons, of the Albert Hotel, Albert Road, Uppor Footscray. She appears lo hai c loft her employer's on the Saturday night about 10 o'clock in company with tt young man who was paying his addresses to her. No valuables were found upon the body with the exception of 3s 3d in money. Constable Wesbon is almost certain that he saw them in Hopkinsstreet about half-past 10 o'clock. The woman wore a white shawl. She was apparently speaking in an excited manner, and after walking about 40 yards past the Footsoray Hotel, parted from her companion, going at a brisk paco towards the river. Constable Smith lias since ascertained that the name of the young man, her companion of the previous night, was Arthur Gawler, a resident of Footscray. About 8 o'clock on Satui day night the deceased had seen Dr. McCarthy, who had prescribed for her. The deceased is supposed to have drowned herself in a fit of love frenzy.
