Ohinemuri County Council invite tenders for road works, See julvt, Mr J. McNic-hol will bold a live stock sale at Wai ton yards on Friday next, Excellent progress is being made with the erection of the plant known as Molloy's process, at the Herald buttery, Thaino*. Three special claims, of fifty acres each, have been this week marked off at Hape Creek, Karaka, and Upper Turaiu. Coromamlel County is reaping the advantages of having a member who takes a practical interest in the distiicthe represents ; and through the exertions of Mr A. J, Cadtnan M. H. 11. have just been gi anted subsidies by the Hon. Minister of Mines for various important road works. It is stated to have been owing to Mr Cad man's instrumentality a number of subsidies recently promised for Thames were aho obtained. A number of local residents spent their holiday by a visit to Paeroa races. TheTe Aroha Wesleyan Church has been recently re-lined, a porch and pair of new entrance gates have been erected, the approaches levelled and gin veiled, and various other alterations carried out, which will greatly add to the appearance of the grounds and building, and also to the comfort of those attending this place of worship. The tender of Mr J. West, being the lowest, has been accepted for additions to the News OiTice ; and the work is now proceeding. Circumstances may alter cases, but they don't alter the man.
