The monthly meeting of: above Council wan held in Mr Pavitt's Office, Te Aroha, on Thursday last. All members being present. Pressure on our space prevents our , giving a vei y lull report of the proceedings this issue ; but tlio following is a synopsis of the business • Correspondence — Outward. — To Secretary Battery Cp., Auckland, from Chairnmn, stating Mr Adams had agreed to purchase three ol: the tramway horses at 75 per cent oif cost price, and stating Council could see no reason i'or the agreement not being curried out. . Clarkes LYaiu. — Resolved that the Engineer bo instructed to remove and take charge of, as County property, the pipes laid down by James Clarke in direct opposition to the Council's ruling. Track to Qtmilzville. — Richard ?>urke, owner of Wclcomo Licensed Holding, waited on Council, and asked that tho pack track between Butler's Spur and tho Welcome L. 11., be repaired, being in a very bad state, and applicant wished to bring down quartz from his claim. Resolved that £8 be voted to carry out tho work. Goldfiolds Tracks. — From Minos Department, declining to alter decision already given refusing to pay subsidy promised on Tui - Waiorongoniai, and Stonoy (Jreek tracks, because grade was moio that 1 in 10. Tho Chairman cb'ir.icterised the action of Government in this matter a<. being a distinct bteach of faith, as no stipulation whatever was made when tho promise- of subsidy w,i^ given that the grade must not exceed 1 in 10. Resolved that each of these works be earned our. Te Aroha-Waiorongomai Road. — A lesolulion proposed by Cr Murphy that £-10 be spent in repairs on thib road, the amount to be charged against goldliclds revenue was lost. Resolved unanimously, on the motion of tho Chairman, That in accoulanee with the provisions of Section 20 of the Public Works Act, 1887, a special meeting of Council be held at Mr Pavitt's office, Te Aroha at J. p.m., April 12th, tor tho pur pose of making a fspecial order decUuing that that portion of the County road fiom Oliineumri County boundary going towards Waiorongomai which lies within tho Town District of Te Aroha, shall be placed under the control of the Te Aroha Town Board ; and directing that the cost of construction and maintaining such part of said road shall bo borne by Te Aroha Tow n Board. Kesolved on motion of Cr Murphy, That tho sum of £20 be authorised to bo expended by the Engineer in keeping in repair the County road from Stoney Creek to Battery pitc, WniorongomaL Slaughter house License. — Mr J. 11. Bo wo of Te Aroha, wrote requesting permission to erect a slaughter house on ground known as Spencers. The intention to apply not having been advertised in compliance with the Act, it. was decided that tho application stand adjourned till next meeting. Town Board. — Messrs Dobson (chairman), and llott, as a deputation from the To Aroha Town Board, waited on Council requesting" permission to effect certain repairs on footpaths on -County road. Pci mission planted. Local Option. — Mr F. Pavitt was appointed Returning Officer for tho purpose of Local Option Poll this year. Accounts. — Accounts to the extent of £'29 3y were passed for payment, Notices of motions. — By Ci Grould-— Tnat ai next meeting of Council he would move that in future the Ooimcil meetings be held at Morrinsvillo. By Cr Williams— That at the next meeting oE the Council ho should move that the rules recently adopted for the guidance of the Chairman and Councillors be rescinded. l)y Cr Mills. — That at next meeting he , would move tint the Council's otiico be situated convenient to the placo where the meeting for the time being is held.
