MINING NEWS.

Thames, March 14. Saxon. —The stopes on tho main reo* over No. 4 level present no change to report. On the whole they are, perhaps not looking as well as formerly, which would lead to tho improssion that tho reef is scarcely as good upwards. Colours of gold, however, are obsorved, and tho quartz is payable. The two winzes below No. 4 level are in progress, as usual, and colours of gold are seen when breaking down. Crushing is proceeding, and the quartz is shaping about the same as that treated previous to the last cleaning up. New Pkince Imperial. —Operations upon tho leader in tho stopes have resulted very disappointingly, and the manager has suspended work here as well as in the drive coming west through the break at No. 1 level. A rise has been started on the hangingwall leader from the intermediate drive, with a view to determining whether this leader really junctured with the No. 1 lode at No. 1 level. It is up four feet, and the quartz will be broken down in a day or two. The Cambria. — 191b of picked stone were obtained from the stopes yesterday.

The prospects of the Silver King claim at Waiorongomai improve as work proceeds.
