Neither player a aiicd fiom the line adopted in tlie preceding " Fifes ;" but they moved vapidly instead of taking live minutes to a palpable move, as is often done in match play. The result was a speedy draw. Bai ker was now tir-.t player, and in foiming the " Alma " ho .showed his willingness to ventuiq on new ground. The game proved of exceptionalinteiest. Bnrker got a man up, and to many it seemed as if he would keep his advantage and force ft win.
