Mr Webbs colt still held tho pride of placo when a mile and a-hnlf had been travelled, but Gipsy King, always lying handy, soon began to draw on the leadoie, ■while St. Clair came with a run and took thiid place, and Quibble also began to show pi eminently. St. Clair, getting on le\el terms A\ith Gipsy King, ran side by side with him for a few strides ; but as they appioachcd the far turn, Huxtable shook up the favourite, and responding gamely, Gipsy King speedily left .Mr McLeans colt, and \ catching Spiingston.had the lacein hand as they enteied the straight. Springston j struggled on with great pluck, and sulJercd ' defeat by only three-quarteis of a length, and Artillery came with a tremendous lui-h, and finished thud, eight lengths, away, ju^t clear of St. Clair, while Quibble w.is liftli, Snapshot sixth, Brewer se\enth, Tetford eighth, and Tci rent last.
