MORRINSVILLE. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)

Two tenden -were received by the Uoard of Education for erection of brick ( chimney at teachers residence Morrinsville, viz., J. Rockliffe, £9 10s Oil (informal) ; C. Johnson, £10 10s Od (accepted). The new chimney will add much to theeomfoi* of the teachers residence, greatly needed, and was quickly elected in a ' most cieditable manner by Mr Johnson, the oend actor. The School Committee met on Wednesday e\cning, when, amongst ihe oilier business dealt with was nil application by Mr A. Jkemner, on behalf of the Wniloa Licensing Committee, for the use of the school room for the puiposc of holdiiig their quarterly meetings The application was grunted subject to tht usual teims. Harvesting is now finished on the Lockerbie | estate and the cereal crops have been secured m excellent order. On Fiid.vy laht a dance was given in the pehoohoom hcie, by the Bachelors of Momns•\ille. Paneing commenced soon after 8 p.m., and was kept up with great spirit till midnight, when there was an interval for refreshments which T.ere handed round by the Committee : After full justice had been done to the Q00(\ things provided for the occasion, and all had sufficiently rested, dancing was ie-unud and kept up almost without intermibMnn till ihnbioak. The committee were mobt attentive, the anangcments satisfactoiy, and all present appealed to enjoy themselves thoioughly.
