Mil-son'-s -splendid new yacht Era, 40 tons Two of her opponents, the Auckland-built yacht Waibangi-nnd the Mistral, fell out of the race at an ocirly stage, in consequence of «ome portions- ef then- gear carrying nwny, *,ndihe contest lay between Mr Fairfax's yacht Magic, 26 tons, and the Era. The latter -vciwelJfully justified the expectations farmed of *h»r sailing powers, and her owner, who is an enthusiastic yachtsman, 3imst hnve'fclfc very proud of tho decisive victoa^y that-^vas won notwithstanding the carrying.&iv&y of the Era's throat halyards outside the heads, A\hich placed the vessel for some time under jib and foresailtenly, and gave the Magic a three minutes 1 lend. The Era won by twenty-nine minutes. The sculling match, first prize £75, fell to Kemp. Q]he New Zoalander, W. Hearn, 4xnd C. 2?ekson were his only opponents. Seam second. Kemp, however, -was nevee: -seriously pressed. Ho is in full training, Hinder the gnidanco of Nelson and Beach, for his approaching match against Clifford, w^iidh takes place on the 11th inebsaxt.
