I Pursuant to Iho provisions of llw "Ceme- | cries Act, 1882," the following By-lavys arc ■ published for general information, and public notice is hereby given that the said By-laws as recited herounder, will bo brought into force by the Tuutccs of the above named cemetery, on and af;er FeVrural(y' Ist, 1888. By-law No. 1. For the regulation and management of the To Aroha Cemetery, the Trustees of tfio said cemetery ordain as follows", that is to say :— All graves shall be opened, filled in, and dressed (if lequirod) by the sexton appointed (or that purpose. No grave shall bo dug less than {\fo. deep, and no collin shall be buried less than three feet below the surface of the ground. Graves shall bo sunk to a depth of twelve feet (or los>) by permission of the Trustees, and must bo paid for fit tho rate of tflo shillings and sixpence for each foot below tho regulation depth, vi/. : six feet. By-law 2— Graves dn Unpurchased Ground. By-law 4 — Monuments, Tombt= tones, and Fences of GravesNo monument, headstone, tombstone or fence shall be erected around or upon any giave, either public or private, until a plan has been submitted to and approved by the Cemetery '.Trustee?, and all fences, memorials, &c, not maintained in decent lepair will he removed by tho Trustees at the co^t and lLsk af thoie concerned. By-la, w s.— Private Plots for Graves may be Transferred. Any purchaser, executor or duiy appointed attorney, of any owner of private grave with exclusive right of burial in perpetuity therein, may transfer their interests in the said private gnue to any otlu-r peraon upon satisfactory proof to the Tiustees of having pioper authority to make such transfer, and upon piodiution of receipt for such prrrnte grave. By-law6— Lop* of Original Receipt and Dupli( ate q iven for Private GravesDuplicate receipts for private graves will be issued to person* having the proper authority on application and payment of a feo of five shilling*. The Register or public and piivate graves in the Te Aroha Cemetery, together with the plan of the bininl ground?, may bu searched or inspected upon payment of ft fee of one shilling. All fees and charges must be paid to the Secrctery of the Trustees by the person undertaking tho funeral or interment, and upon such foes being paid, a warrant, authorising the sexton to bury, will be given, and suck warrant must be delivered to the sexton six working hours, at least, before tho hour fixed for the funeral, except in cases of emergency, and then uj on certificate from a medual officer. By-law 7— Vaults. : Vaults may be constructed within any section secured as a piivatc gravo by the owner thereof, bi^ plans must be submitted to and approved of by the Cemetery Trustees beforo construction. They must be lined throughout in brick or concrete, and the entrance securely fastened. Coffins placed within vaults must be lined with lead or approved material, securely closed to prevent, noxious vapours escaping, and creating a nui -ance. The fees for interment in any vault are thfe same as jftr other occasions, but the cost ot reopening and closing the vault shall be borne by the owner thereof. All vaults in the public cemetery not maintained in proper order and good repair will bo dosed by the Trustees, and no further burials Bhall be allowed therein. Certificates of 'death must in all cases be delivoied to the sexton by the portons responsible, or the burial will not be permitted, and the orders for interment must be lodged with the sexton at least six -working hours prior- to the hour fixed for the funeral, otherwise a charge of 5s extra will be made. The following particulai s must accompany the order : — Name and age of deceased, No. of plot ch&sen, date aud hour of funeral, and officiating minister. By-law B— Offences. Every person who wantonly or 'wilfully destroys, or does, or causes to be done any damage to, any memorial, fence, or othe erection, or to any plant, tree, or flower ber within the Te Aroha Cemetery, or to thd fences thereof, or wilfully disturbs any persons assembled for the purpose of burning the dead shall, upon conviction thereof, bo liable for every such offence to a penalty not exceeding twenty pounds (£2O) or to hnprisonuien for any period not exceeding three months. The owners of cattle, horoee, Bwine or goats, which shall be found trespassing in the Te Aroha Cemetery, shall, for every suchoffencebe liable to a penalty of not less than one pound (£].), nor more than five pounds (£5) in respqet of every head of cattle, horses, swine or goats ao found trespassing without proof of special damage, and notwithstanding that actual damage cannot be proved or shown.
