THE PAPAL JUBILEE.

Borne, January 1. His Holiness the Pope officiated personally at St. Peter's yesterday, on the occasion of his Jubilee, the services be ing assisted by 48 c«rdinals and 238 bishops. The congregation numbered thirty thousand. The Pope delivered his blessing urbi et orbi, and wore the triple crown presented to him by the Emperor of Germany. His Holiness displayed excessive emotion, iaintingf twice before mass. It is estimated that fully 60,000 people attended the special mass in commemoration of the Papal Jubilee. The Sacredotal procession was of ex-, tfeme length, and was splendidly arranged. His Holiness the Pope was received with immense enthusiasm, the large assemblage heartily cheering him and clapping hands on * his 'arrival. The waving of hats and handkerchiefs continued during the' presence of His Holiness. King Humbert, in receiving the members of both branches of the Italian Parliament, stated that the success attending the Jubilee was proof that His holiness the Pope fully;' retained the confidence of the people. The Duke of Norfolk, who conveyed Her Majesty the Queen's congratula tions, occupied a place of honour during the ceremony. The whole celebration was a memorable and imposing spectacle.
