THAMES HARBOUR BOARD.
The "Wellington Con^pondent of the Aucklaud Star wires as follow respiting the above Board having control of the up-rounty rives : — '" During the la*t [\vo or three yea^s a contention haa been going on between the Thames Harbour Bonvd and Ohinemuri County Council as to which body shall have omrol of the Waihou and other up country river*. At last a proposal was made to incorporate a River Boaro, but the Harbour Board managed very .ldroitly to get the control vested in thembelves a fortnight before the new body was gazetted. The residents in the districts affecto'l are greatly dissatisfied with rf 'io position of affairv, and arc making strenuous efforts to upset the recent proclamation. Messrs Whyte, Kollv an J Caiman waited on 11th inst. upon the Minister of Marine, who nppGnrod favourably disposed towards the request of the aggrieved persons, and promised to write to ihe I hames Harbour Board asking lliam to show cay se why it should be be allow ed to retain its presont powers.
