A Handy Roller.

We here give an illustration of a roller that has been found very handy, being simply constructed, and easy to take to pieces for transportation in a cart, and being in three sections it turns easily when in vee in the field. The logs, or sections, are cut three feet long. A hole of the desired size is bored through the blocks in the centre, and each end is mortised out to fit a4s inch square

boxing. Both ends of the middle and the inside end of the outer sections are made concave. A tongue is used as for a wagon. The bars which hold the middle section are of 3& inch by one half inch iron, and fastened to the tongue by three bolts. Two braces of lighter iron are welded at the corners, as shown in the illustration, and bolted to the tongue. An iron plate, six inches wide, is welded to the ends of the bars over the ends of the middle section. To put the roller together, loosen the bolts on the tongue until the liars come far enough apart to cover the ends of the middle sections. Then tighten the bolts well, put the pieces in exact line, and push the rod through, and fasten it with the key at the end. Thore should be a washer at each end of the rod. The rod should be two inches thick' Keep the boxing well

oiled for light draught. A farmer who has made and used this roller, finds it a very good and useful implement.
