I will ask you to be good enougnto allow mo sufficient space in your colnintis to contradict such an unfounded report. I have always been an advocate for thoroughly developing the extensive mineral roaomves which are spread far and wide in this locality, and would always support any good and feasible scheme which might be brought forward for that purpose. I consider that although the mining industry is at the present time paralyzed on account of the want of capit.il to assist in further prospecting, and to work the various claims which were taken up some fivo to aix years ago, still the Aroha goldtield would he payable It worked with capital in a ayßtematio way, and I should only be glad to suppo't tooth and nail] any soherne which, whether brought forward and subsidised by Government money, or by private enterpnso, would give our district a fair sho* of proving l-selt to be capable of giving fair returns, and thereby be a boon t > the mining population, and the agriculturist alike—! am etc..
