SENDING ORES TO EUROPE. A New Departure.

Mr Cameron, proprietor of the Mabel mine, Tui Creek, Te Aroha, has entered into arrangements with the Bank of Jsfew Zealand to forward for him to Germany fifteen tons of Selected ore from that mine for treatment at Frieberg-. The stuff will probably be sent to Sydney, whence it can be sent cheaply to Hamburg by the steamers of the German Lloyds Company. Mr Cameron thinks that were the exporting of ore of unquestionable value entered into more largely it would be the best method of attracting foreign capitalists to our shores. In support of this he instances the case of Silverton, S.A., the ore from which mining district was at first largely exported for treatment abroad. Attention was thus drawn to its richness, and processes suitable to treat the ore were soon introduced into the colony. Mr Cameron says that he has seen lying " paddocked " at the Kenilworth mine, Karangahake, 30 tons of ore every ton of which he believes to be worth £30. Perhaps Messrs Seegner, Langguth. and Co., the local agents of the German Lloyds Company, would ascertain from their principals if any encouragement would be given to the direct shipment of ore from New Zealand by their line to Germany.
