An Index to the Temper,

A writer in the" Boston Journal "says i u If I want to tell a woman's temper I watch her eyelids, You oan read a man the same way, but not so readily. A woman with a fiery temper will move her eyelids with a snap, and that snap betrays her. Another who is easy-going and hard to arouse moves her eyelids languidly. One with a quick brain and a temper furious when aroused, just winks steadily, but neither quickly nor slowly, until engaged in interesting conversation.''

Little two-year-old Robert at the break fast- table the other day heard his father and mother exchange the compliments of the morning with their guests, until he could stand ib no longer, and interrupted them with : " Papa, let me tell my 'tory now, I want some hash." " Don't know," she answered, sulkily. " Don't know?" "No, I don't! You said you , must marry off Sister Mary this summer, but you didn't say a thing to me." Sister Mary's admirers grinned at mamma's discomfiture, but down they went before Annabella's parting shot : "If you want to marry me off you'd better bring me some ,' other men. I' wouldn't many one of that- , crowd."
